Eight online tools you should use with your students

Padlet
A great tool to encourage collaborative work online. After discussing certain items of vocabulary, students can be asked to classify the words into different categories and post them on a shared wall. They can do it at the same time and the teacher can monitor students' work.

Google Docs
This is one of the apps I most frequently use with my students, especially when we focus on process writing. You can ask your students to type a piece of writing on a google doc. In this way, learners are provided with opportunities to receive immediate feedback on their work from their teacher and peers.

Youtube
One of the most common apps used in the classroom. You can play a video about a certain topic while the students complete some activities to check comprehension and then, you can elicit the grammar from a meaningful context.
Kahoot
Another app which is frequently used by teachers. It is ideal for revising a grammar topic and encourage team work as well. Those students who win the game can receive a present or a plus in classwork ;)
Popplet
Do you want to flourish your learners' study skills? You must try this app! If you teach history or make your students read an article/ text about it, learners can put events in order in a timeline including pictures and short texts.

Twitter
As a teacher, you can create a hashtag and encourage your students to post a tweet about what they have learnt during the lesson.

QR Droid
This app is a QR generator. You upload a picture and the app creates a code that can be scanned by other phones in order to access the information. I think it is an useful tool to encourage your students to interact with the different walls in the classroom. Once, we worked on a project about genetics. The last activity consisted on scanning QR codes (which were pasted on the walls) in order to obtain the words they would need to complete a crossword.

Ted Talks
Find a talk about a topic you want to discuss and prepare cards with words. After watching the video, hand out the cards in order and each student should use the word to make a sentence that summarises the main idea of the talk.
